On Thursday ALL IN was rehearsing at the Community Music Alliance, and a drummer who was scheduled after our time walked in and asked if he could watch rehearsal. Sure, we were into it. We introduced each other.

“Ben,” he said.

“Mike Jackman,” I said, shaking his hand.

“I know who you are,” he said.

I had been his creative writing teacher at Indiana University Southeast!! What a small world with all its crazy overlaps. I don’t remember how he was in creative writing, but we had him sit in with the band on “Route 66” and “Proud Mary,” and I would give his drumming an A+! Hey, Ben Johnson – so wonderful to reconnect with you in this way. All the best!!

Today’s Bonus Video: speaking of rehearsing, here’s a video of “I Shot the Sheriff” from our sound check at Hop Atomica Louisville.
